The view from the 96th floor of the John Hancock building, Chicago

I have always wanted to go up the John Hancock building to see the view.  So I did…

But now I think the whole thing is another of the great American conspiracies, like the death of Elvis (he’s not dead, I met him some years ago in a diner in New Mexico), the assassination of JFK (he is dead, no I haven’t met him), and now the fact that there is a lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building.

Here’s why I think it’s a conspiracy:

You get in an elevator, you are told it moves at 48 miles an hour, it shakes like a leaf and then you get out on a floor with a nice lounge.  But… the view is an obvious fake, I think they shake the elevator, they suck the air out of the elevator with hairdryers on reverse to simulate the pressure drop and get your ears to pop, and then you get out on the second floor and see this…


OK, so that’s a total load of nonsense, but if you look at the photo below you will see why you might think this!
